Encountering the Formless – Mineral Pigment Painting

The workshop introduced the basic techniques of mineral pigment painting, focusing on layering colors – mineral and earth pigments – as textured materials, and incorporating the use of silver leaf. Participants are guided to conceptualize their own work, investigating their senses, emotion and memory.

The initial conceptualization is molded and transformed in the process of experimentation with different techniques and the addition/elimination of materials. Participants learnt how to engage with their inner voices, use listening as an effective way for abstraction, and express it through the forms and textures of a landscape of their own.
