Once Upon A Time…

Time, we notice it in abstract numbers, sometimes in the rhythm of nights and day, in the slow turn of seasons.

Earth, too, is a vessel that carries time, not only noticed in tangible forms like cracks, erosions, and undulating hues, but also in the unseen weight of all it has witnessed: rituals of hope, reverence, longing, love and loss. It tells time in the quiet poetry of all that passes and settles into soil.

I foraged soil and stone, unraveling in these materials a language older than words.

Dwelling / Passage

In my journeys I often muse on the idea of home, maybe a home somewhere in the valley, a village with only a few houses, and finding balance in a different rhythm of sunrise and sunset each day. I look at the paths travelled and the paths ahead, wondering about all the peculiar places that one may call home. I dwell in the endless search for solace, drifting under the open sky.

Land Diaries

Through material foraging I take a piece of place-memory, they speak of noticings and encounters, of ordinary life that is miraculous at the same time, of moments that pass away all too quickly.

In the studio, the materials I gather take me back to these encounters, they become living “beings” that guide me in my process of creation. Through their material substance, warmth and textures, I piece together the many facades of life that feels at once fragile and enduring.
